Food dynamics and misconceptions

Food analogically compared to consumption of fuel in the vehicles. We fuel up are engines with petroleum products but has the size of car increased because of storage of fuel, then why do our belly pops up. The reason behind it lies in input and output balance.

Food is one of the few things about which most of us don't have formal education but still we all know something about it. This is also the reason for India's worst performance in Global Hunger Index in which three parameters are related malnutrition. Nutrition education in India is limited to only a few lacs of people only and they charge lucrative fees which most of don't want to spend.
Recently in a study it was found that educated women's children are comparatively at better position in nutrition level. Thus there is a requirement for all of us read at least one book regarding it.
There is a lot to share on this but i am limiting myself to only basics. Our body generates insulin every 50 minutes so try to eat at once and then eat after 50 minutes Rather than continuously eating. Secondly, we usually avoid guidelines of FSSAI like 15gm Salt is recommended by it which we hardly follow. FSSAI notified Sugar, oil, salt etc. limits  that must be adhered. Less denser food like fruits amount could be increased if heading towards weight loss. Thirldy, Carbohydrates, proteins and fats  all of these have special functions so limiting carbohydrates below a level could also be harmful.

Gandhi experimented on food for around 50years oats meal in London to only fruit and milk diet. Even he in later days found substitute for milk. He formed a vegetarians club in England and read almost 30 books on food. Today we have internet access that can be harnessed for nutritional education but only from trusted sources. Lastly my advice is to make your dustbin bigger rather than your belly.

Comments

  1. Your last comment i.e. make dustbins bigger. Is Dustbin a metaphor here for getting rid of extra nutrition from our body or are you implying that we should just throw excess food away in Dustbins. I don't think it's an appropriate reference here though. Would you like to change it by giving a more positive message. Also you have suggested to read atleast one book on nutrition but you haven't recommend. Would you like to recommend any book?

  2. I don't want food to be wasted but still better than becoming unhealthy. Food donation, composting or other innovative measures can be used to utilize that food.

Untold incidents of Gandhi's life

'Bapu'(father) of the nation, Mahatma Gandhi was self made man. In the initial era of his life Gandhi had stage phobia and was unsuited for addressing public in conferences. He transformed himself and emerged as most influential public speaker. Gandhi moved the stairs of success by beating every obstacle in his path. In following incidents you will understand how Gandhi was different from other denizens. Incident-1  While he was in London, chairman of council advised him to address the public about his experiences behind founding this organisation. That night even after having speech written he was not able to deliver the speech in Vegetarian council. Gandhi had many universally accepted qualities since his childhood like truth, service for diseased family member, experimental mind etc. Incident-2 Once in his school external teachers  came for inspection. Dying Media

Freedom of press is insured under Article 19(1)(a) which deals with ‘Protection of certain rights regarding freedom of speech’ but is our press really free? The Land of Truth where newspapers like ‘Keshari’ of Lokmaniya Tilak, ‘Young India’ of Gandhi aroused the feelings of Nationalism and fought for the Plight of Farmers suffering from Fifty Four types of Taxes under British Raj. How could anyone believe that not even a single ‘Media House’ of such a country is in Top 500 TV channels of the world? Aren’t the journalism already dead in our country? Media is considered as fourth pillar of Democracy after Legislative, Executive and Judiciary. I am certain that it is a foreign concept because Television Media is just a puppetry show in India. In last year’s Media reports analysis it was mentioned that renowned News channels like Aajtak has broadcasted more than 6 debates on India vs Pakistan and Hindu-Muslim issues out of 10 debates which clearly propounds that they have concentrated them...
